I am almost sure that you have heard words like energy, universe, vibrations, law of attraction, quantum field, waves, etc. Well, all those are modern definitions of the same ancient wisdom. But it's okay. We are in new times, using new concepts, new thoughts. But, let me tell you that nothing is new; there are only new definitions and new names for the same things, the same energy, same force of life.
The most important thing is not the name or the description; it is how we will use it and take advantage of that to obtain excellent results. In this practical book, I will talk about how we can go beyond the matrix. As I said, transcend the matrix and take control of your mind, present and future. We have a better life in front of us, and it's time to take possession of it.
This audiobook was provided by its author, Karla M. Jay, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Thanks, Karla!
“One does evil enough when one does nothing good.”
I have to say that you should definitely be prepared for a somewhat heavy historical fiction before going into When We Were Brave. Just like you would expect from a WW2 novel set in Nazi Germany, it showed the hardships that people experienced as well as the precious few moments that were a result of appreciating the precious seconds that were rare and kind of far between during those times.
This was in general just a heartfelt, and long, journey. I have seen people comparing When We Were Brav to The Nightingale and I have to say that I see where they are coming from.
Listening to stories from the point of different jewish people that had different takes on what was happening was interesting to read, as When We Were Brave is comprised of mainly 3 stories. The characters in the first two stories were engaging and easy to get attached to but, to be honest, it started to lose my interest at some parts towards the end.
However, the familial relationships made me fall in love so fast and were so well written (especially with the second story of the mother and son trying to escape the Nazis). It was relatable for me personally and that was the story that really hooked me the most that I just had to drop everything and listen. If you aren’t a character driven person the plot of this is more than enough to keep you engrossed as it is quite intense and emotional.
The themes were absolutely amazing! Which is an aspect that I always expect to be strong with historical fiction novels and I am very happy to say that I was not let down.
It's heartbreaking. It's inspiring. What more could you ask for? I absolutely loved the Karla M. Jay's writing style for the most part and the narrator did a great job of translating that into the audiobook. There weren't any fancy sound effects or music but that did not hinder my enjoyment at all. I actually thought the narration itself was entrancing which suited the story perfectly
All in all, I agree with everyone that this was an amazing historical WW2 fiction and there is no doubt that you are going to love this if the genre comes within your reading taste.
Meet the Author: Q Rigal
I was born in South America, Venezuela. Since a child, I feel like a have somebody all the time available for me to learn whatever I want to know. Since I would not say I liked the school, I spoke to my parents that I could study from home and learn more. Of course, they forced me to finish high school. When I was 16 years old, I got to graduate from high school in accounting specialties. In Venezuela, the high school had many things related to math, chemistry, accounting, etc. I started to work at the age of 15. When I was 17 years old, I was the manager and supervisor of the accounting department. Since a child, self-learning, discipline, and responsibilities have been easy skills in my life. I worked in Venezuela in many right places, but I had the feeling that I would live in another land. In December 2000, after a tragic flood in Vargas State where I lived with my family and suffered devastation, I decided to come to the United States. I passed through many challenges, but I became a legal USA Permanent Resident one year after. More than five years after I became USA Citizen. I was living here and working as a slave, being unconsciously part of the Matrix. But all the time, That Great Presence that I call Y'Shua (Jesus) has been with me telling me everything that I must do. I disobeyed that Inner Voice in all the ways. In 2006, I started working in a Real Estate company where I was falsely indicted and accused of a crime that I didn't commit six years after, in 2012. I paid more than 8 1/2 long years in a Federal Prison, and the initially proposed sentence was 30 years because I took the case to trial. Thanks to The Creator, miraculous or by The Power of The Vibrations, I got Sentence Reduction and, on top of that, a miraculous release. It was revealed to me the heart of the Matrix, and I lived in the middle of hell, which is not after death but here on planet earth. I started my self-studies of the human race, the minds, behaviors, vibrations, frequencies, the law of attraction, federal, international, and commercial laws, English as a second language, all studies learn by myself with The Creator's Help. I read more than 300 books, and I lose count. What made me Master my Mind was the Power of Meditation and Self-Hypnosis to overcome the traumatic past, move forward, conquer hell, and get the Victory; this is enough information about me, now let's focus on you because the most crucial person now is you. The Creator and I are dedicated to you, and It's all about you, about what you can do to succeed in life as I am doing it. Now, I am doing what the Creator is telling me to do; share the techniques and wisdom with you. Here I am to serve you. I am here to help you to make this journey called life the best experience ever.
