Synopsis

From the USA Today best-selling author of The Summer House comes a story about lost loves, chasing dreams, and the people who show up when they're needed the most.

Hannah Townsend has the perfect job at a New York magazine, a small but elegant apartment in the Upper West Side, and a successful beau named Miles Monahan. This year, she’s leaving the icy city sludge for sunshine! She’s got tickets for two to Barbados, and she’s meeting Miles at the airport for a week of cocktails, sandy beaches, and the music of steel drums.

But her life is turned upside down in the span of that one morning. Hannah is rocked by the news that her beloved grandmother is very sick, and Hannah needs to come home to her small Tennessee town right away to be with her family and help run her gran’s dilapidated flower shop. If that isn’t enough to deal with, she discovers her boyfriend is seeing someone else.

On her birthday, she finds herself packed into a car on a ride-share to her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. When everything seems to be going wrong, it’s the kindness of a handsome man from Hannah’s past named Liam McGuire that might just save her. But a new development that threatens Gran’s shop and secrets surrounding Liam could alter both their lives forever.

4.5 Stars

This audiobook was provided by its author, Jenny Hale, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Thanks, Jenny!

Hannah Townsend has the perfect job at New York magazine. Excited to surprise her boyfriend Miles Monahan for a much needed vacation with tickets to Barbados, her cell phone rings. Instead of taking a perfect vacation, she got a call that her grandma wasn’t doing well and she needed to high-tail it back to Tennessee. Right after the devastating phone call, Hannah searched for Miles only to be confronted with an unpleasant surprise. Not only was she not going on vacation, she was now single. Could her day get any worse? Very likely, considering all the flights are now grounded due to bad weather. Upset with everything going wrong in just minutes, she collided with someone from her past. WIll Liam McGuire be the one to save Hannah from all she encounters when back in Tennessee?

Melie William did an extraordinary job related the fiction story of The Memory Keeper. Her soothing voice created the scenes perfectly. Melie made the fictional story come alive as if we are watching a movie. Her voice is clear, precise and soothing. Great for a female point of view narration. No, she does not change to do the other character voices. The protagonist Hannah is distinct, some others have an accent, but for the most part she relates the story as reading it to her audience. I truly enjoyed being introduced to Melie’s narration and will now be on the lookout for other audiobooks by her. I love the character Georgia’s slight accent. I enjoy the continuity of the story. Never had to second guess who was speaking. No background noise and clear audio background. The production was incredible. Everything flowed with no distractions. Melie did an excellent job speaking clearly and making the story enjoyable to listen to.

I recommend The Memory Keeper for a sit back, relax and feel good listen. The book translated well into audio form. The author did an amazing job writing this heart-filled romance. Whatever you preference is, you will enjoy the story. One does not overpower the other. If you are a reader that loves to listen and follow along on the print version, this is the perfect book for that! Happy reading. Melie Williams and Jenny Hale seemed to be a great match for making The Memory Keeper come alive. I hope they work together in the future.
